Jesse McCormick
Jesse McCormick has extensive experience working at the intersection of First Nations rights, environmental protection and major project development. He serves as a Senior Advisor at Mokwateh (pronounced moh-kwah-tay), an Indigenous-led national consultancy where he helps Indigenous groups, corporations and governments build successful relationships.
Jesse has previously served as a senior political advisor to the federal Minister of Environment and Climate Change and the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada. In those roles, he helped to support First Nations participation in major project development and he contributed to the establishment of Indigenous Protected and Conserved Areas. He also served as a lead advisor on the reform of federal environmental assessment processes and the passage of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act. Jesse holds degrees from the University of Guelph, the University of Ottawa and the Harvard Law School. He practices law with Pape Salter Teillet LLP, a leading Canadian law firm, with a focus on supporting First Nations in relation to major project development.
